The Clinical Data Researcher / Epidemiologist role at Explorys provides a unique opportunity for individuals with strong analytical and epidemiological to leverage the Explorys network to develop innovative approaches to outcomes research through the use of secondary observational data. Our ideal candidate will have experience in analyzing healthcare data and data quality from electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or participate in the development of research and analytical protocols primarily using anonymized electronic medical record data.

• Coordinate and/or contribute to epidemiological and pharmacovigilance studies.

• Participate in development of new methods for clinical data mapping to SNOMED, LOINC, CPT, and other standard ontology.

• Lead and conduct in-depth observational data analysis, comparing results to clinical trial and meta-analysis.

• Pursue and participate with industry peers in grant funding opportunities.

• Lead or collaborate in the writing of manuscript(s) for peer-reviewed journals that summarize the study’s results.

• Work on a day-to-day basis with Explorys’ data curation and software engineering teams to develop new computerized algorithms for processing and classify clinical data.

• Organize meetings of collaborators, as appropriate, and provide interim written and statistical summaries of results for discussion by co-investigators and collaborators.

Required Skills

• Masters degree or higher in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or related field with at least three years of research in a health care, research, pharmaceutical, or academic environment.

• Thorough knowledge of research methodology and statistical methods with demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of data structures, coding schemes, and data sources.

• Working knowledge of medical code sets, such as HCPCS, ICD, CPT, SNOMED, LOINC, and NDC.

• Published work in the area of clinical data analysis.

• Working knowledge and experience in working with databases (SQL preferred) and statistical modeling tools such as SAS, S, or R.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.

This is a key technical and leadership role responsible for design, development, and support of Explorys software-as-a-service applications, as well our App Layer services offered to third party developers who build their solutions atop our platform. This role requires not only hands-on development of code, but also leadership skills and experience for managing a team of software developers.

Candidates for this role must demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of in-depth web application development experience and proficiency in object oriented programming, XML, and database technologies. The role entails design of prototypes and end-state web applications, data services, for search, collaboration, data visualization, workflow, and social networking. This role requires that candidates demonstrate the ability to work with focus groups, partners, and customers during the design and test phases of our development.

Responsibilities:

• Prototyping, software design, development, and testing of web applications

• Documentation of design, patterns, research, testing, and code

• On-going development of Explorys’ existing application suite, as well as development of new modules and interfaces

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience in web software design and development

• 2+ years experience in leading a web software development team

• Bachelors degree or higher in computer related field

The Role: Software Engineer
