Based in central London, Pitchup.com is a web start-up creating *the* portal for camping and caravanning, a market which has boomed in 2009. We've recently received top 5* rating in Web User magazine, and have already received national media coverage in The Sun, Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail.

With over 100,000 unique visitors since launch in July, we've got a clear roadmap towards short-term profitability, and our founder is a veteran of lastminute.com and the holiday-park sector.

The candidate

We're looking for an ambitious developer to become the fourth member of our friendly team, to help us manage our current site and tackle tough challenges such as online booking and search.

Expert in Django, Python, Ruby, or Perl
Good level of experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL and ideally, Javascript skills
Familiarity with Apache/nginx server environments
A fan of agile working practices - gets things done
A quick-on-the-uptake problem solver
Enjoys coming up with new feature ideas

The role

Candidates will join a small, nimble team at a young company with extraordinary growth potential. As such, there is an opportunity to be involved in a wide range of activities associated with an internet start-up, as well as possibly managing others in the process.

Tasks will include the following:

Planning and implementing marketing activities across all online and offline channels
Writing new website content
Making sales calls and handling enquiries from the public
Data entry

Hours for the role may vary from week to week and can be flexible. Later, a permanent role may be offered to the right candidate.

The candidate

Candidates should be self-starters, extremely flexible as far as tasks are concerned, and able to prioritise based on company needs while meeting tight deadlines. The successful candidate will fulfil the following additional criteria:

Demonstrable experience across multiple online marketing channels
Good understanding of methods to assess marketing ROI
A willingness to be a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ for the sake of being part of a forward-thinking start-up
Honours degree (BA or equivalent)
At least three years' experience in a related field
Own laptop
Ideally, experience with a start-up company
Internet savvy
Ability to troubleshoot independently
A desire to take a big part in the establishment of Pitchup.com as a modern, creative brand
General administrative skills, as well as experience within a customer-facing sector
Excellent communication skills (including phone manner)
