American Art researches and develops information on American art works in the permanent collection for dissemination internally and externally through discussion, lectures, publications and other means and helps to identify and acquire relevant works of art to strengthen and enrich the permanent collection.  The Curator of American Art also organizes and assists with the development of in-house and traveling exhibitions with primary attention to American art from the Colonial era through the first half of the 20th century.</p><p><span style="text-decoration: other means of communication to provide the widest possible access to both in-house staff and the public.
